Reception – Spring Sunshine and Growing Minds
Reception have made the very most of the glorious spring weather this week, taking their learning both outdoors and in exciting new directions. The week began with a fascinating science moment as the children candled their chick eggs to check which ones are likely to hatch, a wonderful hands-on experience that sparked curiosity and anticipation.
Inspired by the sunshine, the class then set off on a ‘Signs of Spring’ nature walk, spotting seasonal changes and enjoying the fresh air as they explored the world around them. Learning continued outdoors with phonics and maths lessons held in the EYFS garden and on the Quad, where the natural setting added an extra layer of engagement and joy.
Back in the classroom, the traditional tale of Jack and the Beanstalk came to life, inspiring some fantastic independent writing as the children retold the story in their own words, a wonderful example of creativity, comprehension and growing confidence in their writing skills.
It has been a joyful, active, and inspiring week of learning, where the children have truly flourished in every sense.
