Chantons fort! Year 2 Shine in French

This week, Year 2 had a wonderfully lively and engaging French lesson, bursting with colour, creativity, and confidence. As part of their topic on la météo (the weather), the children enthusiastically learned and performed a cheerful French song, using actions and props to bring the language to life.

The lesson provided a fantastic opportunity for pupils to practise a wide range of new and challenging vocabulary, including il pleut (it’s raining), il fait du soleil (it’s sunny), and il fait du vent (it’s windy). With growing confidence in their pronunciation and fluency, the children worked hard on improving their speaking and listening skills, all while having great fun.

To help reinforce the vocabulary, pupils used props such as parapluies (umbrellas), parasols (sunshades), and lunettes de soleil (sunglasses), adding a playful, interactive element to the learning experience. It was a fantastic display of teamwork as pupils helped one another with pronunciation and worked together to rehearse their group performance.

The classroom was filled with energy and enthusiasm as each group confidently presented their weather song to the class, demonstrating both language learning and performance skills. It was a joy to see pupils engaging so actively with French and taking pride in their growing knowledge of the language.

Bravo, Year 2, for your fantastic effort and enthusiasm, très bien joué!
