Outstanding Results for King’s Hawford Equestrian Team at NSEA Show Jumping Qualifier

King’s Hawford’s equestrian team had another fantastic turnout at the final NSEA Show Jumping Qualifier of the season, held at Rectory Farm and kindly sponsored by St Edward’s School, Cheltenham.

Nine children proudly represented Hawford in what was their final opportunity to qualify for the prestigious NSEA Show Jumping Championships at Hickstead. The children have worked tirelessly toward this goal all year, and their hard work has certainly paid off!

King’s Hawford Equestrian Team Highlights:

  • 40cm Team:
Georgina N, Freddie, India, and Claudia made up this team and finished in an excellent 4th place, securing their qualification for Hickstead.
  • 50cm Team:
Georgina N, India, Freddie, and Annie again finished 4th as a team, securing further Hickstead placings, with Georgina N finishing 2nd individually – a fantastic achievement!
  • 60cm Team:
Olivia, Chloe, Maysie, and Rosie formed the 60cm team, with Adelyn competing as an individual. The team performed brilliantly and secured a 3rd place finish.
  • 70cm Team:
This team featured the same riders as the 60cm class and delivered an outstanding performance, finishing 1st place overall!

Individual placings included:

    • Maysie – 5th
    • Rosie – 6th

A special mention must go to Rosie, who had to contend with the elements in her round! A gust of wind lifted a parasol out of a picnic table. This was caught mid-flight, this gust then caught the marquee which started flapping just as Rosie rode towards it over a fence! Thankfully, the judges stopped the class and Rosie left the arena while the marquee canvas was removed. She successfully completed her round later, showing composure and an inspiring display of grit and resilience.

Looking Ahead to Hickstead

We are now turning our focus to the NSEA Championships at Hickstead in August – the event our equestrian team riders have been working towards all year. The commitment, team spirit, and determination shown by our children has been remarkable, and we are thrilled to announce:

  • Every single child on the Hawford team has qualified for Hickstead
  • Every rider has qualified in at least two height categories

This means:

  • 13 children
  • 14 ponies
  • 27 rounds of jumping
  • 8 teams
  • And 12 individual qualifications

A very exciting (and slightly logistical!) challenge now lies ahead as we organise our teams and rounds for this major competition along with tents, hook ups, stable booking and everything else that goes into organising stay away shows.
