Year 3 Bring Ancient Egypt to Life with Papyrus Painting
Year 3 have moved on to the next artistic chapter of their Egyptian adventure, painting on real papyrus. Using traditional techniques and carefully chosen colours, the children have been recreating scenes inspired by ancient Egyptian art. From hieroglyphics and desert landscapes to images of gods and pharaohs, their paintings demonstrate both skill and imagination. The texture of the papyrus sparked lots of conversation about how Egyptians recorded their stories thousands of years ago — and how remarkable it is that these artworks still survive today.
It has been wonderful to see the children so fully engaged in their learning, exploring history not just through books but through tactile, creative experiences that deepen their understanding. We cannot wait to display their beautifully decorated canopic jars and papyrus paintings; judging by the work so far, they look truly worthy of an Egyptian tomb!
