Year 4 Stitch Festive Magic with Their Felt Baubles

Year 4 have been busily threading needles, choosing colourful fabrics, and mastering new sewing techniques as they created their very own felt Christmas baubles. This project has been a wonderful opportunity for pupils to build their needlework skills, developing patience, accuracy and creativity as they worked.

Each pupil began by selecting a festive design and carefully cutting out the shapes from soft felt. With growing confidence, they practised running stitches, neat edging and decorative embroidery to bring their baubles to life. From sparkling stars and patterned shapes, no two pieces are alike, each one reflects the personality and imagination of its maker.

The classroom has been filled with concentration and excitement as pupils threaded beads, added buttons, and experimented with vibrant colour combinations. Many children commented proudly on how their sewing has improved, and it has been a joy to watch their fine motor skills and attention to detail blossom through this project. These impressive felt baubles will soon take pride of place in a very special location, Worcester Cathedral. They will be displayed on our school’s Foundation tree as part of the annual Christmas Tree Festival, where families and visitors will be able to admire the children’s hard work and craftsmanship.

We are incredibly proud of Year 4’s dedication and creativity. Their beautiful baubles are sure to bring festive cheer to everyone who sees them and we cannot wait for the wider community to enjoy their stunning creations in the cathedral this Christmas season.
