Match 1 – Kings 1 : 1 Warwick Prep
Kings started the tournament with intensity, moving the ball confidently through midfield with Vivienne and Ellie H applying early pressure.
Strong passing combinations opened up space on the wings, where Kings looked especially dangerous.
Vivienne’s equaliser was a moment of real quality — she received the ball on the right, carried it with speed, and fired a superb shot across the face of the goal into the far corner.
Defensively, Kings worked well to block Warwick’s counterattacks and Savannah along with Eleanor and Amelie made some excellent saves and clearances meaning Kings held firm for the draw.
Match 2 – Kings 2 : 0 Fairfield
Kings dominated from the first whistle, winning turnovers high up the pitch and transitioning quickly into attack. With Eleanor in her new position on the wing and Lillianna teaming up with Vivienne the team was unstoppable.
The girls linked passes beautifully, showing developing confidence and awareness, despite the sheets of rain that were sweeping across the pitch, drenching players and spectators alike.
Vivienne scored both goals after excellent build-up play from Eleanor and Ellie H, who combined cleverly on the wings
Their sharp passing created clear shooting opportunities, which Vivienne finished clinically. The defensive line of Maddie and Amelie stayed composed, stepping up to intercept and keeping Fairfield to minimal chances.
Match 3 – Kings 2 : 0 Bablake U10
Against Bablake’s U10s, Kings showcased some of their most structured play of the day as the heavens opened again, turning the game into a real test of perseverance.
Patient passing around the midfield from Sophie and Imogen drew defenders out, allowing Kings to exploit gaps out wide. Vivienne scored first with a calm finish after strong team pressure. Ellie H added the second, demonstrating great positioning and quick reactions to convert a loose ball in the D.
Eleanor again was dominant on the wing and was a great assist to the creation of the goals. Off the ball, Kings communicated well, ensuring Bablake struggled to progress beyond the halfway line.
Match 4 – Kings 0 : 0 Bromsgrove
In a tense match, Kings showed excellent discipline and tactical awareness.
Bromsgrove pressed aggressively, but Kings kept their shape, defending as a unit and clearing danger with confident hits. Savannah made an excellent stick save in goal. Kings created several chances through clever wing play, using quick give-and-go passes to break forward.
Although they couldn’t quite find the finishing touch, their control of possession and defensive resilience ensured a well-earned draw.
Match 5 – Kings 0 : 1 Spratton Hall
In torrential rain, this match became a real test of focus and determination. Despite the difficult conditions, Kings battled hard and continued to move the ball with purpose.
Spratton Hall converted a rare chance, but Kings responded with spirited attacking play from Ellie H and Lillianna, driving forward through the centre and forcing the goalkeeper into several saves.
The team showed grit in defence with Amelie and Maddie persevering in terrible conditions, Savannah being steadfast in goal, with all making brave tackles and clearing the ball well under pressure.
Match 6 – Kings 2 : 1 Bablake U11
Facing an older and physically stronger Bablake U11 side, Kings rose to the challenge with intensity and smart movement.

Tuesday 25th November
U8 Rugby at RGS
The U8 squad can be proud of their efforts at our final tag rugby festival of the year. The team showed great determination and teamwork throughout the afternoon, focusing on creating opportunities and finishing with some excellent team tries. Sam and Theo impressed with their evasive running, consistently finding space and breaking through defensive lines. Mikaeel and Ivan demonstrated outstanding support play, ensuring quick continuity and helping convert breaks into points. These performances highlight the progress made across the season, with players applying key skills under pressure and working together effectively. It has been a fantastic season overall, and the improvement in confidence and game understanding has been clear to see. We look forward to building on these foundations and taking the skills learned into next year’s fixtures. Well done to all involved!
U9 Rugby at KSA
The Year 4 boys were full of excitement as they took part in their second ‘home’ rugby festival of the term, held this week at the KSW Cinderella Ground in St John’s. After the short trip across the river, the boys quickly warmed up and were eager to get underway. With five matches scheduled and seven schools represented, the afternoon provided an excellent opportunity for the St Alban’s squad to build on the valuable experience gained from recent festivals.
Across the afternoon, the boys faced Hereford Cathedral, The Elms, Winterfold, King’s Hawford and RGS The Grange. Throughout every match they displayed excellent effort, teamwork and commitment. Glorious sunshine and dry conditions added to the enjoyment and also created the perfect environment for the boys to continue refining their tackle technique in realistic match scenarios.
Akshay, Milan and Archie H showed continued progress in their understanding of the game, while Charlie, Finley, Magson, Gabriel, Archie M and Hugo demonstrated strong attacking and defensive skills throughout.
KSA made a positive start in their opening match against Hereford Cathedral, with encouraging attacking play on display. Their second match, against The Elms, proved more challenging, and a dip in defensive focus provided a valuable learning experience. Following a tactical team talk from Mr Jenkinson, emphasising commitment in the tackle, lowering body position, and moving the ball effectively to create team tries, the boys responded brilliantly. They took these coaching points on board immediately, producing noticeably stronger defensive performances in their remaining fixtures against Winterfold, King’s Hawford and RGS The Grange.
Charlie, Finley, Magson, Archie M and Hugo were particularly influential, leading by example and showcasing great power and determination to score a number of well-worked tries. The collective improvement shown by the group was clear to see, marking the festival as a highly successful afternoon that bodes extremely well for next year.
Well done to Akshay, Archie H, Archie M, Charlie, Finley, Gabriel, Hugo, Magson and Milan for their efforts, and thank you to all of the parents and relatives who came along to support – your encouragement is always very much appreciated.
U9/8 Hockey v Moor Park
The U9s delivered a strong performance on Tuesday against Moor Park. Playing on a half-pitch for the first time brought plenty of excitement, especially with the opportunity to shoot into a proper hockey goal! Although the pitch felt much bigger than what they were used to, the girls adjusted quickly and showed good awareness of the extra space. They worked hard to move up and down the pitch, supporting one another in attack and defence.
This game was a great test of their adaptability and teamwork. Hibbah, Tiegan, Maron, Olivia and Alice all gave 100% regardless of the position they played, giving full effort from start to finish. Their work was rewarded with a well-deserved 2–2 draw which is an excellent achievement for their first experience on a bigger pitch.
U10 A Rugby at RGS The Grange
The U10 A team travelled to RGS The Grange on Wednesday afternoon for a competitive afternoon of rugby, taking on both King’s Hawford and RGS The Grange.
The boys opened their afternoon against King’s Hawford and produced some excellent passages of play throughout the match. Although KSA started strongly, a couple of King’s Hawford players were given too much time and space early on, allowing them to build momentum and break through for the first try of the game.
KSA responded superbly. Showing composure and renewed determination, Haadi, Matthew and Jack led the charge with several strong, pacey runs down the wings. Dylan then powered over the line with great strength to score KSA’s first well-deserved try. Jeremiah made valuable metres whenever he carried the ball, while Eli, Monty and Max worked tirelessly in both attack and defence.
Further tries were exchanged between the sides, with Dylan finishing another well-constructed team move to level the match. A draw proved a fair result, reflecting the effort, passion and teamwork demonstrated by both teams.
Player of the Match: Dylan
After a constructive team talk from Mr Jenkinson – highlighting areas for improvement before facing local rivals RGS Worcester – the boys headed into their second match focused and fired up.
From the first whistle, KSA set out with real intent. Monty, Jack, Matthew and Haadi all made strong early carries, putting RGS under pressure. Although KSA conceded the opening try, they refused to let it dent their resolve. Dylan hit back almost immediately with another outstanding individual score.
Despite some excellent cover defence, RGS The Grange crossed again with only minutes remaining. KSA responded brilliantly, camping on the RGS try line for much of the final stages. The boys pushed hard for an equaliser, and Jack came agonisingly close, only for RGS to turn the ball over and run the length of the pitch to score in the final play. The 3–1 scoreline was harsh on KSA, who had dominated long periods of the match and showed tremendous spirit throughout.
The determination, teamwork and passion on display were hugely encouraging and bode very well for next season.
Player of the Match: Haadi
Well done to Matthew, Max C, Haadi, Dylan, Monty, Eli, Jack and Jeremiah, who all played with commitment and represented King’s St Alban’s superbly.
A big thank you to all parents and relatives who came along to support the boys—your encouragement is always greatly appreciated!
U10 Rugby v RGS
The U10Bs put in a spirited and determined performance on Wednesday against a strong Grange side. From the first whistle to the final play, the boys showed impressive drive, working tirelessly for one another and refusing to give up.
In attack, Bertie W was a standout performer, making several dynamic runs that put The Grange under real pressure. His energy with ball in hand helped the team gain valuable territory throughout the game. Theo BD also impressed, displaying excellent footwork to evade defenders and keep the team moving forward.
Defensively, Harvey M set the tone with his outstanding commitment. He made a huge number of tackles, repeatedly stopping The Grange’s momentum and preventing what looked like certain tries. His work rate embodied the team’s resilience.
A highlight of the match came from Jack J, who showed great awareness to identify space on the blind side and finish off a superb try. It was a well-deserved reward for the team’s persistence.
Although the final score didn’t go the boys’ way, they should be incredibly proud of their effort, teamwork, and attitude. Their performance showed real promise, and there is plenty to build on in the weeks ahead.
