Year 4 Enjoy Fascinating Trip to Cadbury World
Year 4 had a fantastic time on their recent trip to Cadbury World!
The day began by travelling back in time to The Aztecs, to discover how chocolate is made and how the Cadbury story first began. We learned all about tempering chocolate before enjoying the obligatory tasting session. Nearly everyone loved the thrilling 4D coaster ride – apart from Mrs Cornish!
After lunch, we stepped into the Victorian era for a fascinating curriculum-linked talk, focusing on George Cadbury as our famous Victorian. We explored the daily lives of Victorian children, from school to labour. We discovered how the Cadbury brothers, George and Richard, helped to improve living conditions in Birmingham, handled real cacao pods, and compared Victorian chocolate-making methods with those used today.
Some lucky students even dressed up as Victorian chocolate makers – including Alfie as John Cadbury himself – as they learned about Victorian chocolate moulds and what it was like to be a “Cadbury Angel”.
It was a wonderful day that all the children enjoyed.
