Reception Celebrate Lunar New Year with a Special Visitor
Reception were delighted to welcome a special visitor last week when Aiden’s mum, Sammi, came in to share her knowledge and experiences of Lunar New Year with the class. It was a wonderful opportunity for the children to learn more about this important celebration.
Sammi showed the pupils photographs of the colourful lion and dragon dances, including some that Aiden had seen during a visit to family in Hong Kong last Easter. The class were fascinated by the vibrant costumes and lively celebrations. They also discovered which animal they are in the Chinese zodiac, which created lots of excitement and discussion. They enjoyed learning how to write a good luck message in Chinese, which they will proudly display at home.
To make the morning even more special, Sammi kindly brought in homemade sticky rice cakes for each child to take home and share with their families.
A huge thank you to Sammi and Aiden for sharing their experiences and helping to bring this celebration to life. It was a truly memorable and special morning for Reception.
