A Fairytale Feast in Reception

Reception’s Fairytales topic this half term has been full of delicious learning, with pupils enjoying plenty of opportunities to get busy in the kitchen!

A couple of weeks ago, they impressed us all as they independently made their own fairy cakes, carefully cracking eggs, measuring ingredients and mixing everything together. It was wonderful to see their growing confidence and independence while baking.

Last week, as part of our work on Goldilocks and the Three Bears, the class made their very own bowls of porridge. One of the highlights was choosing from a variety of toppings, making each bowl just right!

This week our learning has focused on The Gingerbread Man, and of course we couldn’t resist baking some beautifully decorated gingerbread people. The children took great care decorating their creations, which they are excited to take home and share with their mummies this weekend.

It has been a wonderful way to bring our fairytale stories to life while developing important skills such as measuring, following instructions and working independently all while having lots of fun along the way!
