Year 1 Exploring Sound in Science
This week in Science, the children began an exciting new topic all about sound and hearing. To start their learning, they took part in a sound walk around the school, listening carefully to the different noises around them. This sparked some fantastic discussions as they identified the sounds they could hear and considered where they might be coming from.
A special thank you to Sara in the school office, who helped bring the lesson to life by providing a range of mystery sounds for the children to guess. This was a real highlight and challenged the children to think carefully about what they were hearing.
Back in the classroom, the children built on their learning by discussing volume, sorting the sounds they had heard into ‘loud’ and ‘quiet’ categories. It was a fun and engaging introduction to the topic, and we look forward to exploring sound even further in the coming weeks!
