King’s Hawford Girls Make History at ISFA U11 Football Tournament
Wednesday morning marked a significant and proud moment for King’s Hawford as the girls’ football team made their debut appearance at the ISFA U11 Football Tournament, held at Clifton College in Bristol.
This historic occasion represents the first time a girls’ team from the King’s Foundation has competed in the event, and it signals an exciting step forward for the continued growth of the girls’ game at Hawford.
Facing strong and well-organised opposition from schools across Bristol, Berkshire and Cornwall, the Hawford team rose to the challenge with impressive levels of competitiveness, determination and resilience. Throughout the morning, the girls remained positive and receptive, responding brilliantly to feedback and advice to deliver increasingly confident and cohesive performances as the tournament progressed.
There were several standout individual contributions. Jasmine was a rock in defence, producing a series of composed and assured performances under pressure. In attack, Tilly proved a constant threat, showcasing her eye for goal with three superbly taken strikes. Bella also deserves special recognition for her outstanding work in midfield; despite being two years younger than many of her opponents, she demonstrated exceptional skill, composure and maturity well beyond her years.
Most importantly, the team embraced the experience with enthusiasm and spirit, enjoying a fantastic day of football. This experience lays strong foundations for future involvement in the competition, and the girls are already looking ahead with excitement and determination to return even stronger next year.
