Year 6 Showcase Their Entrepreneurial Spirit at the Young Enterprise Fayre

Year 6 launched their Young Enterprise project with enthusiasm, creativity and plenty of entrepreneurial flair. From the very first brainstorming session, the classroom was buzzing with exciting ideas as pupils worked together to develop a business that would appeal to the children of King’s St Alban’s.

Working in teams, the pupils chose a product to sell, a service to offer or an activity to run at their Young Enterprise Fayre. They carried out market research to understand their target audience before developing their ideas into fully-fledged businesses.

Over the course of the project, the children demonstrated a wide range of valuable skills. They created memorable business names, designed eye-catching logos, wrote detailed business plans and carefully calculated their costs, pricing and potential profits.

The highlight of the planning stage was a Dragon’s Den-style investment pitch to Mr Hawker and Mr Kent. Each team confidently presented their business idea, hoping to secure a £10 start-up investment. Their impressive presentations showcased not only their creativity but also their teamwork, communication and problem-solving skills. With investments secured, it was time to put their ideas into action.

The Young Enterprise Fayre was a fantastic success, with stalls offering something for everyone. From freshly made waffles and chocolate-covered marshmallows to stickers, lucky dips, a penalty shootout and many more creative attractions, the Year 6 pupils welcomed customers with enthusiasm and excellent customer service throughout the afternoon.

The project has provided a wonderful opportunity for pupils to experience the world of enterprise while developing confidence, teamwork and financial awareness. Most importantly, all proceeds from the Fayre will be donated to charity, making their success even more meaningful.

The Young Enterprise Fayre was a tremendous success, with our Year 6 pupils raising an outstanding £554.26 for charity.

The winning business, Squish and Swag, run by Nell, Romi and Elizabeth, achieved an impressive profit of £140.60. They have chosen to donate their proceeds to the Worcestershire Animal Rescue Centre, supporting the fantastic work the charity does in caring for and rehoming animals in need.

Congratulations to all of our Year 6 entrepreneurs. Their creativity, teamwork and enthusiasm were evident throughout the project, and they should be incredibly proud of everything they achieved.
