Reception Pull on Their Wellies for a Farm to Fork Adventure

Reception children pulled on their wellies for a special walk marking the exciting culmination of this half term’s Farm to Fork topic.

Before setting off, they joined Kindergarten 2 for a walk around the top field. Each Reception child paired up with a Kindergarten child, guiding their younger companion and chatting along the way. The activity offered a lovely, informal introduction to the transition from Kindergarten to Reception, before Kindergarten waved the Reception children off.

Reception then set out together for the local farm shop, walking through fields and spotting tractors, cows, horses and sheep along the way. The journey brought their classroom learning to life and gave them plenty to see and talk about.

Everyone walked sensibly as a group, listened carefully to their teachers and crossed the roads safely together.

At the farm shop, the children explored the colourful displays of fresh fruit and vegetables before buying mince to make burgers for a barbecue with their families the following day.

They also chose some fresh strawberries for the Kindergarten children, which they delivered on their way back to their classroom – a lovely ending to a fun-filled morning of discovery.
