A Creative Start to Year 1
Year 1 have enjoyed a busy and exciting first week back, settling happily into their new routines and making a fantastic start to the year.
The children have begun their new topic, Houses and Homes, and enjoyed listening to the traditional fairy tale The Three Little Pigs. This linked beautifully with their Science learning about materials, as the children had fun exploring the classroom and identifying objects made from wood, plastic, metal and glass.
In Maths, the children have been busy sorting and grouping objects, developing their understanding through practical and hands-on activities.
Inspired by the beautiful story Only One You, the children created colourful painted fish, celebrating their individuality and encouraging them to be as curious as possible as they begin their Year 1 journey. The story was a lovely reminder that each child is unique and has something special to offer.
It has been a fabulous first week, and we are so proud of the enthusiasm, creativity and curiosity the children have shown. What a wonderful start to Year 1!
