King's St Alban's
20 September
A day of adventure for Year 4.
A day of adventure was on the cards for the King’s St Alban’s Year 4 cohort and that is very much what they had!
Leaving school bright and early, the children excitedly boarded the minibuses heading for Blackwell Adventure located near Bromsgrove. The pupils arrived in high spirits, looking forward to a day filled with plenty of daring and exciting activities in a beautiful setting. The activities were designed to push each and every pupil out of their comfort zone, ensuring that they experienced that great sense of achievement that comes with conquering your fears.
First up was the crate stack, an activity which tested balance, agility and team skills. Pupils were tasked with stacking crates as high as they possibly could whilst their teammates wobble about at the top of the stack – without falling off! The children then set about traversing the tree trek, harnessed and attached to a pulley system, enabling them all safely to navigate a course five metres off the ground. They made themselves and their teachers really proud, negotiating the course which included a scramble net, wobbly bridges, a vine walk and a mini zip wire.
During the course of the day, pupils also had the opportunity to practise their archery skills, as well as to get to know one another a little better during some team building activities which included purpose-built team challenge exercises testing both physical and mental problem solving skills.
Favourable September weather together with a delightful group of pupils meant that a great day was had by all. Describing his day, one Year 4 boy said, “I think Blackwell Adventure is so exciting. My favourite bits of the trip were the balancing plank; I also liked the bit where you get into order of your date of birth and the tree trek. Everyone enjoyed the trip.”
