A Paws-itively Wonderful Library Session for Year 5
This week, our Year 5 pupils were treated to a very special surprise during their library time, a visit from Mr Hawker’s friendly and gentle dog, Maggie. Her calming presence filled the room the moment she trotted in, creating an atmosphere of excitement, comfort, and curiosity.
Maggie’s visit offered more than just adorable tail wags; it gave pupils a chance to experience the soothing influence that animals can bring to learning spaces. Many children felt instantly relaxed and eager to share their reading with their four-legged guest, who settled in happily among them.
After the reading session, Mr Hawker held a short Q&A, answering all the pupils’ thoughtful (and enthusiastic!) questions about Maggie. The children loved discovering her favourite foods, learning about her favourite games, and finding out what she enjoys doing at home. Their faces lit up as they listened, completely captivated.
Of course, the highlight came when every pupil had the chance to give Maggie a gentle stroke and an affectionate tickle. The joy in the room was unmistakable, smiles all round and a very content Maggie soaking up the attention!
Our Year 5 pupils absolutely loved this special visit, and we’re quite sure Maggie enjoyed it just as much. We look forward to welcoming her back for many more magical, tail-wagging moments in the future.
