U9 Rugby Festival at RGS The Grange
Our enthusiastic U9 Rugby team travelled a short distance to RGS The Grange on a glorious afternoon for their first experience of competitive rugby.
Understandably, the first game, against King’s Hawford, proved to be a bit of a scrappy affair and we struggled with the concept of getting back into a straight defensive line. However, as the afternoon progressed, the boys went from strength to strength with Humphrey and George showing the most improvement in this area. In attack, Monty and Sam showed excellent footwork and looked dangerous, ready to offload when possible.
In our second game against RGS The Grange, our structure improved and the highlight was a flowing move, with a great pass from Wilf, which lead to a score in the corner. A great team try!
We saved our best for last, in a free-flowing affair against RGS Springfield. We started to work well as a team and Joel and Tom showed good pace in attack. Reuben’s energy in both attack and defence was also impressive. We left the afternoon having learned a lot and with plenty of smiles on faces! Well done to all those involved; we look forward to seeing the team develop over the coming weeks.
