An Alien Visitor in the Pre-Prep Library
A couple of weeks ago, an unexpected visitor appeared in our Pre-Prep library, an alien! Since then, we’ve been looking after him and involving him in our lessons, and he seems to be learning at an astonishing rate. He has already picked up how to read and write in English!
However, on Wednesday morning, we discovered him with an interesting-looking jam sandwich. It seemed he had tried his best to make one but hadn’t quite mastered the process! To help him, we decided to demonstrate how to make a jam sandwich. The children enjoyed making their own sandwiches while Milky Way, our alien friend, watched carefully and of course, everyone got to enjoy eating theirs too!
Next, we decided it would be helpful to write instructions for Milky Way, focusing on bossy verbs and time connectives, so that he could follow them and master sandwich-making on his own. It was a fun, practical lesson that combined writing, following instructions, and a little bit of alien education!
