Arts Week Brings Creativity to Hawford

King’s Hawford was transformed into a hub of creativity this week as we participated in an action-packed programme of events for Arts Week – our annual celebration of The Arts.

During the week children across the school came off timetable to enjoy some very fun and exciting activities based on this year’s circus theme. These included:

  • Learning exciting new circus skills including juggling and balancing
  • Puppet theatres and circus stories, prepared and performed by the children
  • Making circus performer masks
  • Circus stories, bringing children all the fun of the fair
  • Ceramic egg art
  • ‘Clownders’ – rounders with a fun, circus-themed twist!
  • A circus poetry competition for Year 3, writing an acrostic poem for the words circus, trapeze or juggle
  • A circus writing competition for Year 6, writing a story with a title “The Day the Circus Came to Town”
  • Using mime and drama in ‘Clowning Around’

As Arts Week coincided with Grandparents’ Day on Thursday, our special visitors to the school were treated to number of fantastic arts performances.

Thank you to everyone who was involved – it was certainly a fun-filled week that brought big smiles and lots of laughter to our school.
