Bumper Bill for Informal Concert

There was a real buzz of excitement in the Chapel on Tuesday afternoon, as parents and children gathered for the first Informal Concert of 2024. These concerts are incredibly popular, and this concert contained a bumper 28 items!

Children from Year Two to Year Six entertained us on a variety of instruments, playing pieces they have been working on with their instrumental teachers. We enjoyed folk songs such as She’s like the Swallow alongside traditional favourites like Merrily We Roll Along, songs from the shows, including A Million Dreams, pop songs like Hey Delilah and film classics such as the James Bond theme. Ever versatile, several of the children performed on more than one instrument and, given that it is only a few weeks since our last concert, it is impressive that so much new music has been learned in such a short space of time.

As well as appearances from our Informal Concert ‘regulars’, it was lovely to welcome two new musicians to the platform for their first public performances. Olivia (Y2; Piano) and Henrietta (Y3; ‘cello) did themselves proud and set the bar high for future performances! Akshay (Y2) has played the violin several times at these events, but also made a first appearance playing the guitar, doing so with real aplomb.

Congratulations to everyone who took part: the standard was higher than ever, and it was clear that everyone had worked incredibly hard to prepare their pieces. This was a fantastic event and a lovely way to end the day.
