Celebrating Success: Summer Term Week Five
This week’s Celebration Assembly was focussed on joy, and started with the uplifting hymn, Give Me Joy in My Heart. We were also treated to a performance from Daisy L (3A), who played The Hungry T-Rex beautifully on the piano.
There was a lot to celebrate with our Pre Prep superstars this week. In Year One, awards were given to Ivan J, for demonstrating such lovely kindness to a friend in need, and Lakshmi S, for setting a super example to others with her beautiful behaviour and wonderful work ethic. In Year Two, Nell H was celebrated for being fearless in the classroom and having a go; Mr Hawker reminded everyone of the importance of being brave and taking risks. Milan C was also celebrated for showing good focus in lessons this week. Congratulations to all our Pre Prep superstars this week.
Year Four were commended for their excellent story writing, describing a fish swimming up the River Severn and through the Diglis fish ladder: congratulations go to Thea H, Pip T, Alban R and Hannah R. Mr Hawker shared snippets of their stories and showed everyone the beautiful handwriting and presentation of the work.
There was further GYM homework to celebrate this week: Kasvika B (4R) had produced a wonderfully detailed poster about the American gymnast Simone Biles, and Nell D wrote all about a recent family camping trip to Wales.
All the Pre Prep children who enjoy dance club each week were commended. The children always arrive at the club with lots of enthusiasm and demonstrate fantastic listening skills. They consistently show a “can-do” attitude and have learnt two dances in a short space of time. We are all looking forward to the Pre Prep Summer Show next week, when they will perform.
After a hugely successful Informal Concert this week, all the children who had participated were commended for their role. Mr Hawker reminded everyone that it takes courage to put yourself forward and perform, and congratulated everyone who took part.
This week some of our prefects talked about the upcoming events on which they are working. Our Academic Prefects shared with us that, after the Half-Term Break, Prep Pupils will be volunteering to read with Pre Prep children. On a similar note, our Sport Prefects explained that there will be further opportunities for Pre Prep children to play with Prep pupils in organised games at break-time. These opportunities for the children to come together are always a highlight, and there was much excitement for these events next term.
Our House Prefects informed everyone that the House Points were being collated, and it would not be long before the House winners would be announced. They encouraged all pupils to work hard and gain as many House Points as possible before the end of the year.
Many congratulations to Zara W for her Grade Five Distinction Award in Musical Theatre. Theo S received the award of Player of the Tournament in the Anglo-Welsh Tournament and showed us all his medal and trophy; Helena C showed us her Cross-Country silver medal for the 1500m race.
We celebrated two Headmaster’s Awards this week: the first for Lottie S, who produced a superbly written Highwayman poem, and the second for Ruqayyah S, who designed a fabulous Team GB kit for GYM homework. Congratulations to you both.
