Celebrating Success: Summer Term Week One

As the first week of the Summer Term draws to a close, the signs of Spring are beginning to appear, and this morning the King’s St Alban’s community came together to celebrate the successes of the week. Mr Hawker, Headmaster, was delighted to welcome children from Reception through to Year Six as he spoke to them all about starting a new term with optimism and hope.

After this, Mr Hawker presented the Pre-Prep Awards for the week. This week’s Reception superstars were Adel T, for always trying hard with everything she does, and Mary J, for being kind to her friends; well done to you both. In Year One, Mikaeel L has impressed with his super attitude towards his learning, and Theo J was recognised for working independently on all tasks and listening to advice on how to improve his work. Year Two Awards were presented to Archie H, for consistently working with super concentration and independence, and Magson C, for joining in class discussions with enthusiasm.

All of Year Three were commended for persevering during fractions lessons this week. Elodie H and Maddie E were also commended for super comprehension answers that were detailed and accurate. Year Four have been looking at explanation texts and their task was to create an automatic machine to clean a dirty bike; well done to Martha N, Cerys J, and Hannah R, who were all commended for their excellent writing. Meanwhile, during their topic on coasts, Maddie T, Archie B, Ivy C, and Tilly E from Year Five all produced excellent diagrams and explanations of currents, tides and waves; well done to you all.

With the awards presented, it was great pleasure to celebrate a sporting success from the Lent Term. On the morning of the Superball Tournament (King’s Worcester v RGS) our Year Five netballers joined with King’s Hawford and won the Warwick Prep School Tournament. The girls won all the eight matches they played: well done to Zara W, Skye F, Georgia P, Maddie T, all future Superball players in the making!

Turning to external achievements, the King’s St Alban’s community were delighted to celebrate with Cerys J (Year 4), who shared her gymnastics achievement with everyone, having passed Grade 7 successfully. Many congratulations: only grade 8 left to go! In addition, Henry I (Year 4) was delighted to show everyone his rugby medals and explain that his rugby team came first in a tournament and he was awarded a medal for commitment to his team. Will B (Year 5) shared his recent karate success, having travelled to Ireland to take part in a European competition, where Will won silver in kata and gold for fighting: many congratulations!

Rounding off the assembly, Mr Hawker presented the Silver Times Table Awards to Louie F and Freddy H, both of whom are in Year Five, and Gold certificates to Luca E, Georgina P and Archie B, once again all in Year Five.
