Charity Day and Concert See Smiles and Excitement Across the School

Hawford children came to school in brightly coloured home clothes and full of excitement in honour of the school’s annual Charity Day on Thursday.

This year, the theme of the day was “Celebration”, continuing our 70th Anniversary celebrations, with our chosen charities being Project Gambia, CoppaFeel, The Teenage Cancer Trust and Breakthrough T1D UK. We are delighted to announce we have so far raised £2150 – and we’re still counting!

Everyone enjoyed a host of activities during the morning and lunch breaks that have now become much-loved Hawford traditions!

These included a joyful Wake and Shake Boogie at the beginning of the school day, a Diamond Treasure Hunt across the school day, our traditional ‘Teachers in Trouble’ event at morning break, where teachers with the most votes received a good old Hawford Mississippi Mud Pie to the face!

Following popular demand, we were also thrilled to bring back the Welly Wanging competition!

In the evening, children in Years 3 to 6 staged some incredible performances in our charity concert, which took place in The Barn.

Children took to the stage in their classes, year groups or part of our ensembles to perform a varied mix of music, including stunning performances from the Orchestra, Brass Group, Wind Group, Junior Choir, and Dance Mix club.

Everyone enjoyed the joyful finale where all our children returned to the stage to sing together.

Mr Butt commented: “As a school we did a fantastic job, raising over £2000 in one day is very impressive. The whole of Prep were absolutely brilliant at the concert – thank you to everyone who took part and everyone who came to watch.”
