Chorister news: two choristers receive awards.

Worcester Cathedral Choristers, all of whom attend either King’s St Alban’s or King’s School, Worcester, follow busy timetables, balancing their school commitments, both academic and extra curricular, with a comprehensive rehearsal schedule. Choristers rehearse up to four days a week before school and three days a week afterwards, alongside a regular schedule of services which also span the weekend.

At King’s St Alban’s we are always delighted to see our choristers progress and develop during their time in the Cathedral Choir. Last Sunday, the King’s St Alban’s community was delighted to congratulate two particular choristers: Year 6 pupil, Rory received the Elmley Foundation award and medallion on Sunday morning and Oliver, also a Year 6 pupil, received his surplice on Sunday afternoon. Congratulations to both pupils on achieving these milestones.

The Cathedral’s Director of Music, Samuel Hudson, said, “Receiving a surplice or medallion is an important milestone in any chorister’s time in the Choir. It marks the hard work completed over many months, learning about singing technique, becoming familiar with the choir’s repertoire of music, and gathering experience by singing in services. Receiving a surplice is the recognition that a chorister has completed this intensive training period, and that they are ready to take a full part in the Choir’s busy but rewarding schedule.  Well done!”
