Cricket takes centre stage at King’s Hawford
U9 Cricket vs The Downs
On Tuesday we hosted the U9 cricket team from The Downs and both teams took part in an enjoyable game of cricket on the top field. It was clear that lots of progress has been made by our team over the past few weeks of this half term. The King’s Hawford staff were impressed with the improvement in bowling; it is clear that the players have been working hard on accuracy and consistency. Well done to Pip K, Thea and Mary for their excellent bowling. Finn MP demonstrated some powerful batting; excellent work Finn!
U10 Cricket Tournament at RGS The Grange
On Wednesday the U10 cricket team took part in the RGS The Grange Cricket Tournament. It was a fantastic afternoon of cricket in beautiful sunshine. The children started with an outstanding victory over one of the RGS The Grange teams, managing to achieve bonus points for taking six wickets and scoring over 50 runs.
The team followed this up with a dramatic win over Warwick Prep thanks, in part, to a wicket from George O in the final over. This set up a final against a very strong RGS The Grange team in which our team showed real character when batting to post a competitive total but, despite wickets from Will N and George O, the RGS batting line up was too strong.
There were some really impressive performances all afternoon, with the Player of the Tournament title being awarded to Holly J.
Colts Cricket v Winterfold.
A very capable mixed Year 5 and 6 team played extremely well at Winterfold this week. Some accurate bowling from our team restricted the opposition total. Rory G executed an excellent catch. It was then great to see some power hitting by the side brought a large tally of boundaries. Particularly impressive this week were James B ad Teddy C.
U11 Boys Cricket v Winterfold.
The U11 boys enjoyed a super afternoon of cricket culminating in a nail biting finish. Bowling first, King’s Hawford began in style with Oliver B, Freddie M and Freddie P picking up wickets. The team batted with grit and determination with Oliver Bs decisive innings the highlight.
