Cricketers dodge rain in successful start to the season
Boys U11/10 v The Elms
We enjoyed an extremely exciting start to the cricket season for the U11/10 team, dodging the rain and managing to keep the match on despite a rather wet and muddy outfield. We bowled first and were impressive with our consistent line and length; it was pleasing to see the work we have put in during Cricket Club last term coming to fruition. Ralphie captained the team brilliantly, organising the field and setting both the bowling and batting order. The stand out bowlers were Erin (2 Overs , 6 Runs, 0 Wickets) , Jack (3 Overs, 11 Runs, 1 Wicket), Harry S (2 Overs, 9 Runs, 1 Wicket) and Harry B (3 Overs, 18 Runs, 2 Wickets). The Elms finished 102/4. King’s St Alban’s lost a few early wickets; however, a brilliant partnership between Reuben and Francis put the team back in line with the required run rate. Reuben had a great innings, scoring 29, with four well executed boundaries. Joel B and Harry S batted well together and put us in a commanding position. We finished just three runs short of the target, after losing a few late wickets. It was an exciting match with impressive cricket on display from both teams. Well done!
Boys U11/10 v The Elms
The first cricket game of the season was a great success against an evenly matched Elms team. The boys were very excited as they walked out to field in the first innings. They bowled very well, displaying good line and length, with Rook, Tom and Jack P each picking up wickets. The outfield showed good throwing and catching skills and they started to back each other up well when the ball was thrown into the bowler or wicket keeper. Humphrey displayed some excellent fielding skills, as he saw a lot of the ball, being positioned at square leg. Monty showed good leadership skills by setting the field effectively and motivating his teammates, and he also put in an excellent display with the bat. The boys batted well, only losing a handful of wickets, and Peter hit an incredible six and a four in the final stages of the match to win the game by sixteen runs. Well done boys!
Girls U10 Cricket v RGS Springfield
Very pleasing start to our cricket season, all the girls bowling over arm and improving their line and length throughout. We need to be more aggressive in our batting and take the runs on offer. Emily S demonstrated some consistent bowling. Lottie F showed some promise in bat and communicated well with her partner. Well done girls.
Girls U11 Cricket v RGS Springfield
Great to see such enthusiasm from the Year 6 girls in their first match of the season. Our Bowling showed great promise with Eshal R bowling the first maiden over of the season. Some excellent batting on display, with 4s from Emily H and Ella G and a 6 from Eshal R. Some excellent fielding with a number of run outs and a fantastic catch from Emily H. Great cricket from all.
