Our school has been alive with colourful costumes, fancy footwork and team spirit this week in the lead up to this year’s Dance Showcase! Children in Years 3 – 6 have worked extremely hard since the start of term, learning choreography and dance numbers for the ‘Rainbows and Colours’ themed show, which all came together in the most fantastic way today.
Each year group performed their own number with every child getting involved. From ballet, tap and jazz, our children got the opportunity to demonstrate the new moves they’ve learnt during the Dance Showcase in some show-stopping numbers to songs including Green Eggs and Ham, Purple Rain and Goodbye Yellow Brickroad to name a few.
Whilst this year’s performance couldn’t be attended by parents and families like usual, that didn’t stop our children and teachers making the most of this beloved yearly event. Lily B in Year 6 designed a bright and colourful poster to promote the show around school and, as usual, all the children enjoyed getting into character with hair, make-up and their colourful costumes.
Each of the numbers from the day have been captured on film and will be made available to parents next week, so families and friends can enjoy the performance in the comfort of their own homes. We’d also like to say a big thank you to parents for their help with sourcing fabulous costumes for the Dance Showcase. We hope that the production video will be something to treasure for years to come.
The arts play a central role in life here at King’s Hawford, with all pupils enjoying music, art, drama, and dance as part of the curriculum with specialist music lessons also available. The Dance Showcase is just one of the many of the many opportunities for children to hone their creative talents outside of the classroom. A brilliant day was had by all involved!
