The whole school enjoyed a thrilling display of dancing delights last Friday. The Year 3 to 6 children have spent the past few weeks learning the choreography and musicality of their dances with their dance teacher, Mrs. O'Brien, to put together a dazzling "Schools Out!" themed show.
Each class put on their own dance with everyone participating. There was also the opportunity for the children from the ballet and dance mix clubs to have their own performance to demonstrate the skills they had been learning over the past year. The dances were choreographed to music taken from films, TV and musicals such as "Mamma Mia", "School of Rock", "Matilda", "Oliver!" to name a few. All the children thoroughly enjoyed getting into character with hair, make-up, costumes and of course, a lot of audience participation.
The performance was repeated twice on Friday evening in the Bartholomew Barn, with parents and friends enjoying refreshments before the start. The show ran smoothly for an hour and finished with a staff finale. The audience was definitely surprised by the sterling performance of the staff dance. The true highlight was when Mrs. Adams dropped into the full splits! I think some of the children were concerned she may not get back up again!
