Drafting, Editing and Publishing: Dragon Stories in Year 4
Year 4 have been thoroughly enjoying their English work this week as they continued developing their story about a dragon in a cage. Pupils began by writing their first draft, before carefully editing and improving their work. Using purple pen, they added extra detail, description and new ideas to make their writing even more engaging and effective.
Once they were happy with their improvements, pupils rewrote their stories neatly, ready for display. It was wonderful to see the care and pride they took in presenting their final pieces.
This writing project was inspired by the book Dragons Live for Ever by Robert Swindells, which the class has also been reading this week. The story provided great ideas and sparked plenty of imagination, helping pupils to develop exciting plots, vivid descriptions and strong storytelling.
A fantastic example of how drafting, editing and presenting can turn good writing into great writing, well done Year 4.
