Early Fixtures Show Promising Start

U8 & U9 Hockey Match Report: The Elms School

On Tuesday, our Year 3 and Year 4 girls embarked on their first hockey fixture of the season at The Elms School. Getting all the girls organised with shin pads on, gum shields ready, and hockey sticks in hand was quite the task, but the excitement was undeniable. With many of the girls singing along to the radio, only one asked the classic question: “Are we there yet?”

The teams played in small-sided, 4-a-side games under glorious sunshine. The girls, a mix of apprehension and excitement, showcased the skills they have been learning and their determination on the pitch. Many goals were scored throughout the afternoon, and it was a fantastic start to the season. The girls should be proud of their hard work and the great effort they put in. Well done to all involved!

U9 Rugby Festival at RGS The Grange – Mr Hooman

In their first-ever experience of contact rugby, the U9 team put on some outstanding performances, showing great promise for the future. Despite the shift to a more physical game, the players adapted brilliantly and embraced the challenge.

George and Bertie were standout performers with the ball in hand, displaying an impressive ability to spot gaps in the opposition’s defence. Their sharp decision-making and fearless running led to multiple tries and kept the opposition under constant pressure. Jeremiah also made a huge impact, running with determination and power to break through the defensive line on several occasions. His hard running kept the momentum going and created space for his teammates. Max, Rudy, and Daniel showcased excellent passing skills, helping to start off attacks with smooth ball movement. Their teamwork and vision were key to setting up try-scoring opportunities and keeping the game flowing.

Overall, the performances were impressive, but we highlighted a few areas that we need to work on going forward. Well done on a brilliant start to the rugby term!
