Eggshells, Enamel and Exciting Discoveries in Year 3

Year 3 have been full of curiosity and excitement this week as they launched their fascinating eggshell experiment. Using eggshells, which are made of a substance similar to tooth enamel, the children explored what happens when they are placed in different drinks.

Each morning has been filled with squeals of delight as the checked the eggshells to see the changes. So far, Diet Coke and Ribena seem to have had the biggest effect, turning the shells brown and black and even starting to disintegrate! The children have been making careful observations, asking brilliant questions, and predicting what might happen next. They will continue to monitor the eggshells until early next week, before writing up their findings and reflecting on the results.

Well done, Year 3, for approaching science with such curiosity, enthusiasm, and thoughtful observation, your investigative skills are shining through!
