Ending Half Term on a wave of success

Today we had a wonderfully musical start to Celebration Assembly, as we were treated to a performance from our String Group. Thank you to all the members of String Group for playing so beautifully and confidently.

Sporting Success:

This week, our U10 girls hockey team were crowned champions of the RGS The Grange Tournament. All of the girls played some fabulous hockey and Mrs Beech was extremely proud of them all. This morning, Mr Butt shared the girls’ success with the school and was delighted to present the team with their medals.

Achievements Outside of School:

Florrie W recently played for her team Worcester Rugby Club at the Old Sils Festival. Florrie had an outstanding tournament, helping her team finish as winners. Well Florrie!

U11 Cardiff Sports Tour:

Rugby Player of the Tour was awarded to Oscar H. He impressed staff with his attitude and hard work, both on and off the pitch. On the pitch, Oscar got stuck into rucks and amazed staff with his ability when carrying the ball forward.

The Hockey Player of the Tour was Sienna G. This young lady was brilliantly consistent and always put maximum effort into everything she approached. Her progress on the pitch from game to game particularly impressed Mrs Butt, who noted that Sienna was always in the right position and listened and implemented any instructions from the side-lines.

Cardiff Tourist 2023: well done to Luke H, who was awarded the Cardiff Tourist Award. Luke was understandably anxious ahead of the tour, being relatively new to the School. His work rate on the tour was outstanding, and he showed great resilience. He was an asset to the School, demonstrating beautiful manners and behaviour. Well done Luke for such a successful tour!

Headmaster Awards:

Miss Kingston has been very impressed with her Year One class, who have produced some fantastic pieces of written work using speech punctuation. Well done to Poppy B, Clancy N and George G, who all received HMAs for their superb work!

Thomas C has been to see Mr Butt this week to show off some brilliant DT work. Thomas was tasked with producing a scissor lift. Not only did Thomas make a magnificent example, he was also able to give a very informative explanation of his work. In front of the whole school, Thomas explained how the scissor lift worked. Well done Thomas for a fantastic piece of engineering.

Several Year Six pupils have recently impressed their teachers with some fantastic research projects. Sam M produced an outstanding poster on Mozart and James B focused on WWI and crafted a well-researched poster, full of pictures and facts. Sienna’s research project on WWI was close to her heart, as she chose to research her great-great-uncle, who had served in WWI.

A number of Year Six pupils were recently recognised for being really helpful with the younger members of our school community. A group helped KG staff sort through the old scooters and bikes: well done to our Year Six volunteers for being so helpful and proactive.
