Erin L shines at IAPS Swimming Finals

We are always delighted to share the successes of our pupils. On Saturday 3rd June, Erin L competed in the IAPS National Swimming Finals at the Olympic Aquatic Centre in London. Erin was one of just 20 U11 girls nationally to qualify for the breaststroke event. Despite the huge occasion and venue, Erin was calmness personified throughout the day and did herself and the School proud by finishing fourth in her heat, with a time of 41.22 seconds. This meant that she was through to the overall final and we are so proud of her amazing achievement in finishing seventh nationally.

Since joining King’s Hawford in Reception back in 2016 Erin has impressed staff with her sporting ability. During her time in Pre-Prep she worked hard to master basic skills in a range of different sports and by the time she reached Year Three she was more than ready to represent the School on the sports pitches. A regular member of all of the School’s sporting teams, Erin’s passion for sport and her work ethic were clear for all to see.

Erin is a natural sportswoman and readily turns her hand to several different sports. She holds county honours for cricket and swimming, and is a keen hockey player and athlete. Outside school Erin is a member of several sports clubs including Droitwich Dolphins Swim Club and Worcester Hockey Club.

This year Erin has been selected for the U11 Girls Worcestershire County Cricket Club development programme. In the pool Erin has competed in the 2023 Worcester County Swimming Championships in the 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 50m freestyle and in April of this year she achieved a silver medal at the Bristol International Open Meet. On the track, Erin has had success in both the 100m and 200m; in 2022 she qualified to represent King’s Hawford in the 100m at the IAPS Championships .

Eris is a tremendous role model for younger pupils at King’s Hawford. In her final year she has been an integral part of the Student Leadership Team: during the Spring Term she was a Citizenship Prefect and during the Summer Term she was given the honour of being Head of School. It is clear that Erin has embraced every opportunity afforded to her. She is an excellent example to her peers and a true Hawfordian.
