On Friday 27th April, 21 pupils from our Chamber Choir (Y5 and 6) joined forces with the boys from Warwick Junior School to sing evensong in Coventry Cathedral. The children enjoyed a brief introductory tour given by a member of the cathedral’s schools’ team before being put through their paces by Mr Allsop, first in the song school and then in the fabulous acoustics of the cathedral itself. For many, this was the first time they had attended or sung evensong and they have all had to work very hard to prepare, learning how to sing responses and decipher psalm pointing as well as discovering settings of the Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis. The joint choir of 60 pupils made a tremendous sound and this was a truly memorable occasion. Well done everyone – we are really proud of you!
