Exciting climax to house Aquathlon

Years 3-6 Aquathlon

Over the past two weeks, every child in Years 3 to 6 have been involved in a house Aquathlon. This involved the boys and girls swimming a certain distance in the pool, followed by a run down the river pass or around the school site. The distances of the swims and runs varied between year groups but we were so proud of everyone, for how hard they worked and how much they pushed themselves to do the very best they could.

A few stand outs from the Aquathlon weeks were the final Year 6 girls race that involved Anna, Sophie, Heidi and Florence. It was a very competitive swim and going into the final bend of the run, all four of the girls were separated by about 4 metres. Florence kicked on and won this race with Anna in second, Sophie in third and Heidi in fourth. Benedict R also massively impressed us all with his strong swim and his brilliant run to win his race.

It was the Year 5’s turn on Tuesday and there was a tight race which involved Aiden leading coming out of the pool, quickly followed by George. They really pushed each other and they were both involved in a photo finish, with George just nipping Aiden on the line. Also Jack swam and ran superbly and won his race.

On Thursday afternoon the Year 4’s took on the tough but enjoyable Aquathlon, where there were many children swimming down our swimming pool and running around the quad with massive smiles on their faces. There were many close races and a lot of hard work with Harry, Ace, Peter and Erin all working incredibly hard and all finishing in the top 2 of their races.

Friday morning was the last day of the Aquathlon weeks and the excited Year 3’s came into the pool full of exuberance. There were again a number of very close races and it was great to see them all pushing each other to perform to their absolute best. Tom and Rueben both really impressed In the pool with a strong swim, followed by a quick change before a powerful run to finish.
