Exploring Coins and Notes in Year 2 Maths

This week, Year 2 have been working hard and thoroughly enjoying their new maths unit on money. Pupils have been learning to recognise and name the different coins and notes we use, building confidence in identifying their values and understanding how money is used in everyday life.

Lessons have included a range of practical and engaging activities, allowing pupils to handle coins, sort them by value and use them in fun games and problem-solving tasks. These hands-on experiences have helped pupils to apply their learning in meaningful contexts, such as buying items, making amounts and thinking carefully about their choices.

Pupils have shown great enthusiasm during the activities, working collaboratively and explaining their thinking as they solved money problems. It has been lovely to see such positive attitudes to learning and growing confidence with this important life skill.

Well done Year 2, for your fantastic effort and enthusiasm during your money learning this week!
