Since the introduction of remote learning at the start of term we’ve been amazed by the way teachers and pupils have transformed their lessons and adapted to new ways of working. One fine example is the introduction of Fancy-Dress Fitness Thursday for Year 1 and 2 pupils.
The weekly dance session takes place on Zoom to bring together children learning from home and those coming into school as part of our Critical Keyworker Care. By adding fancy dress into the mix, the sessions have become a highlight of the week.
And It’s not just the children who are raiding the fancy dress box. The teachers are required to join in too! So far Mr Roberts has been Bob the Astronaut, Tutankhamun and this week will be Biggie from Trolls.
Oli Roberts, Head of Lower School, said: “It’s so important to find new and engaging ways to bring the class together and to ensure we have some physical movement between lessons to help the children maintain their focus and concentration. We introduced a fancy-dress fitness session in the first week of term and it was so popular with both pupils and parents that we decided to make it a weekly feature.”
So far, we’ve been joined by Batman, a unicorn wearing sunglasses, a skeleton, a cowboy, Ironman and Willy Wonka to name a few. What will the children come up with next? Keep an eye on our Facebook and Instagram channels for more pictures.
