Forest School Adventures for Reception and Year One

This week, Reception and Year One teamed up for an exhilarating off-site adventure. The children were full of excitement as they walked through the school gates to board the waiting buses. Aboard the buses, they engaged in excited chatter as they made the short journey to Bishop’s Wood Forest School Centre.

Luckily, the rain stayed away, meaning the children were able to be outside all day and had plenty of opportunity to explore the woods. In the morning, the children worked in small groups to make straw, stick and brick houses for the three little pigs. There was lots of excitement and anticipation when unfortunately the beastly wolf managed to blow the straw and stick houses down, but all was well with the brick houses; well done children!

Lunch was devoured and the afternoon started by sorting out story settings, characters and ‘things’ that might be in a story. The afternoon was spent back out in the woods, exploring through stories and playing. Gingerbread men were made out of clay, children imagined they were the troll, porridge was cooked, and stories were told using pictures clues. A very happy day was enjoyed by all, and the children were a credit to the School.
