GYM Homework: I am Unique

Last weekend saw the children of King’s St Alban’s take part in their first GYM Homework weekend of the new school year. Children from all year groups were invited to choose an optional activity to complete from a themed grid. This half-term the theme was I am unique! and the children delighted in telling us more about themselves, their families and their lives outside school.

Many children chose to research and then create their own family trees, some going back many generations, and there were super Magnificent Me! posters and PowerPoints, detailing lots of fun-filled facts, which the children enjoyed sharing with their friends and teachers.

It was great to hear all about the different languages many of our pupils speak at home. We saw a super Indian translation, and counting in Welsh and Greek. Telling us about favourite family recipes and traditional foods was also a popular and delicious option.

An enjoyable choice on the activity grid was to represent facts about yourself using numbers. We loved seeing the different non-standard objects children chose to measure themselves, including measuring height using Halloween-themed objects. We also saw some fantastic All About Me board-games, designed with questions to ask to learn more about each player.

As ever, the children thoroughly enjoyed participating in the arts and crafts options on the grid. Creating a piece of art out of their unique fingerprints was a popular option, as was creating self -portraits, which included some fabulous AI generated creations!

Well done to everyone who took part. We thoroughly enjoyed seeing your projects!

Look out for our Christmas themed GYM Homework on Friday 1st December.
