GYM homework inspires generation of eco warriors.

The children fully embraced the eco theme of last weekend’s GYM homework.  A popular option was to take part in a local litter picking event.  Many children wrapped up warm and, armed with gloves, litter pickers and bags, collected a staggering amount of rubbish.  Thank you to those who took part, our local communities definitely benefited from your hard work!

As ever, the children thoroughly enjoyed getting crafty and reusing and repurposing waste was a fun choice on the GYM grid.  From glow worms and litter bugs to fabulous robots, the children had a great time junk modelling with their recycling at home.

The children were keen to research and then share their knowledge of endangered animals in wonderful powerpoints, fact sheets, poetry, art work made from recycled materials and posters.

Closer to home, the children continued to think about the environment with some fantastic bug hotels being built for the garden, participation in the RSPB’s Big Bird watch and by donating toys and clothes to local charity shops.

Well done to everyone who took part, we thoroughly enjoyed seeing your projects!

Look out for the next GYM homework weekend which has a “Get Active!” theme on Friday 17th March.
