Last Friday it was wonderful to welcome the Hawford community to the school to enjoy our annual Christmas Fayre. We made the sensible decision to take this outdoors for 2021 and the playground area was full of gazebos and food and drink stalls, with games to play and prizes to win! There was a plethora of musical talent on display, thanks to the Heralded Hawford Buskers and Christmas Tree Karaoke.
We were delighted to hear that all of the children from Kindergarten to Year 2 had made Santa’s Nice List. We were even more delighted when his elves informed us that Santa had found time in his busy schedule to run a special grotto at King’s Hawford. All of the children up to Year 2 were able to meet Santa in his outdoor classroom grotto and receive a present!
On the hard surface, children from Year 1 to Year 6 ran stalls to raise funds for our two chosen charities. It was great to see the children working together to raise money for these wonderful causes. The Parents’ Association were also present at the Fayre and ran a very popular Family Christmas photo booth, a Merry Merch Stall and Rudolph’s Refreshments! We are so grateful to our wonderful PA, who are truly at the heart of the King’s Hawford Community.
The musical performances were kicked off with the Heralded Hawford Buskers, a team of buskers from Year 5 and 6, who played in front of a wonderful Christmas tree backdrop. Buskers including Eva, Anya, Charlotte, Katia, Edward, Emily, Eden, Nico, Will, Liv, Oscar, Jack M and Ned impressed the audience with their festive musical delights. They also helped to raise money for our charities this year, which include Project Gambia and UNICEF.
Each Year group then took it in turns to perform a festive song. Reception kicked off with a beautiful rendition of We Wish You a Merry Christmas, complete with sign language. The children have worked hard on preparing their song and did a wonderful job remembering the words and the signs! Year 1 and 2 collaborated on a Christmas Show Song whilst Year 3 sang Last Christmas. Next up Year 4 had the crowd singing along with White Christmas and Year 5 had everyone tapping their feet to Merry Christmas Everyone. Year 6 finished the year group performances on a high with Jingle Bell Rock.
The year group performances were followed up by a whole school singalong around the Christmas tree!
