Headmaster’s Award for Wonderfully Creative Poetry
A big congratulations goes to Daniel in Year 5, who has been awarded a Headmaster’s Award for his wonderfully imaginative poem written in English this week. The task was to create a poem about things he didn’t do during the summer holidays, and Daniel’s work truly stood out for its creativity, humour and flair.
In his poem, Daniel cleverly wove together a series of adventurous and imaginative scenarios, from not kicking a winning goal, to resisting the urge to open a mystical door, to avoiding the challenge of cracking a secret code or hiding from a sneaky spy. His playful use of rhyme and rhythm captured the spirit of the task perfectly, bringing a smile to everyone who read it. Daniel’s writing showed not only great creativity, but also a careful attention to structure, punctuation and vocabulary, proving that hard work and imagination are a winning combination.
To mark the occasion, Daniel joined Mr Hawker at breaktime to celebrate with a well-earned cookie, a sweet reward for a very special achievement! We are very proud of Daniel’s achievement and look forward to reading more of his exciting and inventive writing as the term continues. Well done, Daniel!
