Pupil Power elects House Captains
Following on from the appointment of our Autumn Term Heads of School and Prefects last week, this week saw a team of House Captains elected across the School. The election process for the House Captains differs from that used to appoint our Pupil Leadership Team, as House Captains are voted for by members of their House.
Each academic year, House Captains, supported by their Vice-Captains and Pre-Prep representatives, act as role models for younger pupils and support the House Tutors. There is a rich programme of Inter-House events which take place across the year, culminating in Sports Day and the Apache Relay. House Captains are expected to lead by example and encourage and support all members of their House.
On Monday morning, pupils from Reception to Year Six split into their House groups to start the election process. Pupils from the top of the Prep School and top of Pre-Prep were encouraged to put themselves forward for election. They were then invited to address their peers to explain why they would make a great House Captain. A large number of pupils stepped up, and all spoke passionately and eloquently. It was wonderful to see so many pupils eager to take on the responsibility of representing their House.
After all of the speeches had been delivered, the House Tutors oversaw the voting process. There were some very close contests in all of the Houses, with all of our pupils proving popular candidates with their peers.
