House Song Competition returns!
Thursday got off to an exciting start as we saw the return of our inter-house singing competition. This hotly contested event last took place in January 2020, so it was a real joy to welcome it back into our calendar of inter-house competitions.
The first house to take to the stage in the John Moore Theatre was Wilson, with their lively rendition of I’m a Believer. Robust singing and lively actions got the competition off to a fine start.
They were followed by Thomas House, who gave a super two-part performance of Down by the Riverside, ably conducted by Mr Braithwaite and Mrs Atkinson.
The small ensemble elements of Bailey’s performance of When I Grow Up added elements of surprise and their two-part work was really effective. They really made the most of this beautiful song.
The final house to sing was Armstrong, who were fully adorned with tinsel and cool shades for their joyful rendition of Sparkle and Shine. Everyone enjoyed seeing Miss Jordan and Mrs Etherington scoot onto the stage to conduct!
Mr Hudson, the adjudicator, was blown away by the quality of every performance and it was a difficult decision to choose a winner. Many congratulations to Armstrong, who took the crown for their lively, enthusiastic and accomplished performance.
