Informal Concert – A Magical Celebration of Talent!

What a spectacular showcase of musical talent we enjoyed at Friday’s Informal Concert! Children from Reception all the way up to Year 6 wowed us with their confidence, skill, and enthusiasm in a wonderful afternoon filled with music of all styles.
The concert began beautifully with a serene harp trio by Chloe T, Bonita-May, and Iza  performing Morning Has Broken. From there, we were treated to a wide variety of instruments and voices – from pianos to violins, guitars to saxophones, and even a majestic bassoon!
There were many memorable moments, such as:
  • James F from Reception confidently playing This Old Man on the piano whilst singing along – a big achievement for such a young performer! There were first time performers in Year 2 with George on the guitar and Minnow on the piano. Several Year 6 children performed on two instruments demonstrating their skill and versatility.
  • Musical styles were contrasted with Alexander and Austin giving confident Baroque style performances on the violin and bassoon respectively;  Louis and Will’s jazzy upbeat piano tunes, and Thomas’s groovy Spice Trail on the guitar. Elizabeth’s serene piano piece Elegy of the Arctic gave the audience goosebumps. There was a splash of theatre with Finn, Olivia, Rosie, Jess and Ariana singing tunes from the musicals, Jess on the flute and Fearne on the violin. With further contrast there were folk songs from Izzy, Ellie and Georgia, and Elizabeth and Florence’s pieces on the violin. Nursery rhymes were performed by Elizabeth on the violin and Maha on the lap harp. A film tune from Lyra and Charles (saxophones) and a couple of big classical hits meant the concert ended with flair thanks to Thea’s bold trombone solo from Holst’s Jupiter and Iza’s graceful harp finale.
It was wonderful to see students trying new things, supporting one another, and sharing their love of music. Whether it was a traditional folk song, a film score, or a piece by Bach, every performance was met with huge applause and proud smiles.
A big thank you to our music teachers and staff who helped make the concert such a success, and of course, to the amazing pupils who practiced so hard. We can’t wait for the next performance!
Keep playing, keep singing, and keep shining!
