Informal Concert delivers pitch perfect performances

On Tuesday afternoon, a group of musicians from across the School gathered together in The Barn for the very first Informal Concert of the academic year. Cheered on by a supportive crowd of parents, grandparents and music teachers, pupils took to the stage and over the course of the concert eighteen pupils delighted the audience with their note-perfect performances.

We had a number of pupils for whom this was their very first Informal Concert: Alice H (Y2), Alexander S-C (Y2) and Samuel B (Y6) didn’t display any first time nerves as each delivered faultless first-time performances.

There was a range of different instruments represented including violin, ukulele, piano, trumpet and trombone; we also had a number of singers take to the stage. Musical styles ranged from traditional pieces by Beethoven to more commercially popular pieces from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and The Sound of Music.

We had a number of performances on the violin. From Year Two, Alice H and Alexander S-C performed their short pieces confidently; Charlotte F (Y4) gave a mature performance of Ode to Joy, Fearne B (Y3) played a lovely rendition of Waterfall, whilst Daisy E got everyone’s feet tapping with the well known Chitty Chitty Bang Bang theme tune. Sticking with string instruments, Cameron H-T wowed the audience with his ukulele playing and his singing to Bob Dylan’s Blowin’ in the Wind.

On the piano, Elliott C, Elizabeth N and William C gave uplifting performances. The brass section was well represented by Harry G and Samuel B on the trumpet and trombone respectively. Ariana P, Rosie H, Izzy W, Olivia W, Olivia G, Darcy B and Ava H all impressed with their beautiful vocals.
