Introducing Our New Sports Department Members

We are delighted to welcome three exciting additions to our Sports Department at King’s St Alban’s, each bringing passion, experience, and unique stories to inspire our pupils.

Mr Khan, our new Hockey coach, is a seasoned player and coach whose love for hockey and cricket shines through in every session. One of his proudest achievements came while helping his university team enjoy an unbeaten season, a remarkable feat both as a player and a coach. Outside school, Mr Khan enjoys spending his spare time on the golf course, and his sporting hero is the legendary Andrew Flintoff. Ever the adventurer, he has travelled to over 30 countries, bringing a wealth of experiences and stories to share with our pupils.

Joining us as Sports Gap Assistants are Ruby Ingles and Archie Grimsey, both accomplished athletes with inspiring personal journeys. Ruby’s passion is netball, and she has already shown incredible determination, captaining the KSW 1st netball squad and earning a spot in the WNC performance squad, even after a serious ACL injury and reconstructive surgery. In her spare time, she continues to play and coach netball at WNC and loves spending time with family and friends. Ruby credits her early swimming coach, Mr Jenkinson, for setting her on the path to achieve county and regional swimming times, a testament to her dedication and resilience. Her sporting hero is none other than Simone Biles, reflecting her drive and determination.

Archie Grimsey brings a love of cricket both as a player and a coach. One of his proudest playing moments came when he scored 54* and contributed to a thrilling 43-run last-wicket partnership to win a game. As a coach, Archie has made history by setting up and running a women’s softball section at his cricket club for the first time in its 191-year history. In his downtime, he enjoys cooking, and he proudly calls Joe Root his sporting hero. An interesting fact about Archie: he scored his first cricket hundred before he even hit his first six, a milestone that highlights his natural talent and cricketing instinct.

We are excited to welcome Mr Khan, Ruby, and Archie to our Sports Department. Their enthusiasm, expertise, and love for sport are sure to inspire and challenge our pupils, while bringing energy and enjoyment to every session. We can’t wait to see the positive impact they will have across the school.
