King's Hawford

King’s Hawford extends warm welcome to new Headmaster.
On Saturday, 3rd September, the King’s Hawford community came together to welcome Mr Tom Butt, who joins King’s Hawford as Headmaster after half term. Mr Butt was joined by his wife, Charlotte and children, Oliver and Amelia, for a King’s Hawford family barbeque.
As the rain held off, the school playing fields offered the perfect setting for current pupils to run around and reunite with their friends prior to the start of the new academic year, whilst parents had the opportunity to meet the Butt family on an informal basis. A delicious barbeque offering tasty hot dogs for the children and a more sophisticated chicken tikka option for the more discerning palate was beautifully presented by the School caterers, Thomas Franks.
Talking to parents during the course of the afternoon, Mr Butt commented, “I am deeply honoured to have been appointed Headmaster of King’s Hawford, where, from my first visit to the school, I have felt the warmth of the King’s Hawford community. I, together with my family, am hugely excited to be joining the school in November and getting to know everyone.”
Educated in Kent, Mr Butt read Exercise and Sports Sciences at the University of Exeter, where he also studied for his PCGE. Bringing a breadth of educational experience, from which King’s Hawford will now benefit, Mr Butt has held a number of senior posts in the UK as well as Chile and Switzerland and joins King’s Hawford from his current role as Deputy Head at Bredon School near Tewkesbury. Tom is a keen sportsman and is passionate about the outdoors; he is a smallholder in his own right, enjoys travel and country pursuits, and is looking forward to being the new custodian of King’s Hawford’s animals.
Over the course of the coming weeks, Mr Butt and his family will be visiting King’s Hawford on a number of occasions, including the King’s Hawford Open Morning on Saturday, 8th October.
