Hawford Harps
We are lucky to have a set of eight lap harps available for students to hire, offering them a unique chance to explore this beautiful and captivating instrument as part of our Hawford Harps program!
Each lap harp features 16 strings, making them the perfect size and style for young learners to start their musical journey. These harps provide a gentle introduction to playing, helping children develop coordination, musicality, and confidence in a supportive and creative environment.
Our Lap Hawford Harps Club meets after school on Tuesdays, led by our talented harp teacher, Erica Sinclair-Wilding. This club offers pupils the unique opportunity to learn in a group setting, where they can share their progress, enjoy ensemble playing, and build a strong musical foundation. Many of our students have progressed to larger lever harps, demonstrating their growing skills and commitment to the craft.
Recently, our young harpists had the exciting opportunity to perform at the Worcester Competitive Arts Festival. Their performance was met with applause, as they showcased their impressive progress and musicality. It was a proud moment for the students, as they not only demonstrated their hard work but also the joy that comes with learning a musical instrument like the harp.
Being part of the Lap Hawford Harps Club fosters teamwork, creativity, and a sense of achievement, making it a truly enriching experience for all participants. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, the club provides a nurturing environment where every pupil can thrive and discover the joy of music.
The Lap Hawford Harp Club is currently open to children in Years 3 to 6. Year 2 students are also encouraged to express interest as we aim to nurture young talent from an early age.
We’re always happy to welcome new members! If your child would like to join or hire a lap harp, please contact Mrs. Hughes at shughes@ksw.org.uk for more details. Or, discover more about music at King’s Hawford here.
