King’s St Alban’s Holiday Club: Non-stop fun and adventure
With the Autumn Term now well underway and the pupils of King’s St Alban’s settling into their new classes and routines, the King’s St Alban’s holiday club, which ran throughout the summer holidays, seems a distant memory. Children from the King’s St Alban’s pupil body, together with pupils from other schools around Worcestershire, had eight weeks of non-stop fun and adventure.
Beginning the day after the Summer term concluded and running up until the end of August, with a short two-week break in the middle, the holiday club offered something for everyone. The dedicated staff members ensured that plenty of fun, games, giggles and laughter were enjoyed by all – it was the school holidays don’t forget! Pupils relished the opportunity to escape the hot summer days and glide onto the ice-skating rink, design and make some impressive (and some slightly scary) puppets, develop their tennis skills with some expert tennis coaching, bake some delicious cakes, swing from the trees at Go Ape!, tie-dye t-shirts and socks and make jewellery; that was just week one!
Pupils from Reception age to Year 6 got grubby in Forest School with our fully qualified Forest School Leader, Miss Cartwright, climbed the walls at Redpoint Worcester and even got to grips with some basic First Aid skills with School Matron, Sarah. They were kept active with numerous sporting activities including karate, tennis, cricket and ball skills, whilst also enjoying more gentle activities including a visit from ‘The History Man’, Scalextric Day and Mini-Makeover Day.
Two particular highlights for the children and most probably the staff too were firstly the ‘Sleepover’, which saw 30 excited children arriving at school with their sleeping bags, pillows and teddy bears ready for a goodnight sleep…and after a film and a pizza that’s what they all did! We’re not sure Mrs Monkhouse managed a wink of sleep as she kept watch with her outstanding team of staff. The second highlight was the end of holiday club party; there were party games galore as well as an ice-cream van – what more could a child want?
All of our holiday clubs aim to provide a fun-filled, safe, nurturing and happy environment. The clubs are run by King’s St Alban’s teaching and support staff, who are joined by a team of qualified, DBS checked, caring and energetic individuals. As you can see from our jam-packed timetable, we offer a range of activities that allow children to be children and make the most of their holidays. It is also a wonderful opportunity to build new friendships and try something new and different.
Open to pupils currently in Reception to Year 8, our October holiday club will be running from Monday, 31st October to Friday, 4th November; full details for information and booking forms will be available shortly via the King’s St Alban’s website.
